Shu arrives at Funeral Parlor's Headquarters at Roppongi Fort where Gai introduces him to the group and expresses his plan to hold a trial for Shu before he can officially join them. Gai assigns Ayase as Shu's instructor while he leads a mission to take over "Leukocyte." Ayase dislikes Shu, only training him because Gai ordered her to; she steals his transmitter pen, unaware of what it is and only agreeing to give it back if he completes her trial.
After some hard training, Shu encounters Inori, telling her that he joined Funeral Parlor because of her. He asks if she will join him if he wanted to leave the group. Inori tells him that she won't because Gai gave her a life and purpose; she claims that Gai told her to use Shu's feelings for her to get him join Funeral Parlor and enters Gai's room. Dejected, Shu runs away and bumps into Ayase, who consoles Shu and gives him some encouragement for tomorrow's trial. Unknown to both of them, Inori is giving Gai a blood transfusion.
On the day of his trial, Shu has a mock battle with Ayase's Steiner; if he gets past Steiner and into the truck behind it, he will pass the trial. Shu succeeds the task after using Arugo's Void to blind Steiner and get into the truck. Ayase and the members of Funeral Parlor congratulate Shu on the becoming one of them. Just as Kenji arrives, Funeral Parlor receives a troubling report from Tsugumi: Gai led a team to intercept the arrival of mercenaries and Endlaves at an airport, but they were discovered and shot at by Leukocyte, an orbital satellite laser.
